Personal Places-Portraits in the Landscape

This class offers students an opportunity to tell a story in the making of their quilts.  You will choose one or more photographs to tell this story.

You will be learning design, color and perspective.  A combination of machine thread painting techniques, embellishments, and the use of paint to enhance your landscape will be demonstrated.

The first step in the process will be making a landscape.  Following the general idea of  the landscape photograph you create a fabric canvas to establish your landmarks, sky, land, water, etc.  You then add the details making your landscape complete.

The next step is producing a portrait.  Based on the photograph of your person or portrait you will learn an easy to follow technique that produces life-like portraits.  A short demonstration on how to posterize your photographs in photo Shop Elements 8 will give you a head start on your portrait.

The final step will be joining the two processes together, thus telling your story.
